- Title
- Soil erosion prevalence - Blue Nile Basin, Ethiopia
- Abstract
This map was produced in support of the Nile Basin Development Challenge (NBDC), which is one of the programs currently being run under the Challenge Program for Water and Food (CPWF). The main objective of NBDC is to improve rural livelihoods and their resilience through landscape approach to rainwater management in Ethiopia highlands. The NBDC is executed concurrently through five projects (N1, N2, N3, N4 and N5) in the Blue Nile basin. The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) is one of the partners in Nile 2 (N2) project; the others are: International Water Management Institute (IWMI), International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and Overseas Development Institute-UK (ODI). The key objective of the N2 project âOn Integrated Rainwater Management Strategies: Technologies, Institutions and Policies for the Blue Nile Basin, Ethiopiaâ is to identify appropriate rainwater management strategies (RMS) (combining technologies, policies and institutions) for well defined areas of the Ethiopian highlands.
