- Title
- Bioclimatic strata in Central and South-Central Asia and Asian Highland durin...
- Abstract
The bioclimatic strata are generated from four variables: aridity index, monthly mean temperature seasonality (tmean_sd), monthly potential evapotranspiration seasonality (pet_hev_sd), daily sum of degrees of temperature above 0 ℃ (tmean_degdab). These four variables are calculated based on monthly precipitation and temperature data from the "WorldClim" dataset (which are available at http://www.worldclim.org/current) and then used as the input to the ISODATA clustering routine in ArcGIS to classify the GEnS environmental strata (Metzger et al. 2013). The statistical signature profiles of the strata have been reconstructed based upon a multivariate analysis (maximum likelihood classification) of these four bioclimatic variables. These signature profiles were then used to project the spatial distribution of the strata based upon the current climate conditions during 1960 to 2000. The dataset has 0.0083333333° resolution, with geographical coordinate system.
